Aged Care Courses Sydney | CHC30102 Certificate III

Learning Lab offers a wide range of aged care courses for those who wish to work in the aged care industry. Our Aged Care Courses are aimed at developing skills and knowledge required to effectively support older people in residential facilities and/or in the community.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in residential facilities and/or in the community under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans. They provide ancillary services such as catering, cleaning, laundry, gardening and home maintenance. And report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for others.

Prerequisites: 

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Course Outcomes: 

Participants achieving this qualification will develop skills and knowledge in;

  • Providing care and support for older people
  • Communicating effectively with staff and clients
  • Legislation related to aged care
  • Safety procedures for direct care work
  • Dementia support and care
  • Providing personal care
Course Outline: 

Core units

  • CHCAC1C - Provide support to an older person
  • CHCAC2C - Provide personal care
  • CHCAC3C - Orientation to aged care work
  • CHCAC6C - Support the older person to meet their emotional and psychosocial needs
  • CHCAC15A - Provide care support which is responsive to the specific nature of dementia
  • CHCCOM2B - Communicate appropriately with clients and colleagues
  • CHCINF8B - Comply with information requirements of the aged care and community care sectors
  • CHCOHS302A - Participate in safety procedures for direct care work
  • CHCORG3B - Participate in the work environment

Elective units

  • CHCAD1C - Advocate for clients
  • CHCCS304A - Assist with self medication
  • CHCC405A - Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers
  • CHCPA02A - Plan for and provide care services using a palliative approach
Qualification Rules: 

To be awarded this qualification, the student must successfully complete 13 units of competency, 9 Core units and 4 Elective units.

Accreditation and Articulation: 

Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a CHC30102 Certificate III in Aged Care Work.

This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Pathways from the Qualification: 

After achieving the CHC30102 Certificate III in Aged Care Work, students may undertake the CHC40102 Certificate IV in Aged Care Work, CHC40202 Certificate IV in Service Co-ordination (Ageing and Disability), or a range of other Certificate IV qualifications.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): 

A formal process for recognising skills and knowledge, RPL takes into account previous studies you may have completed as well as life and work experiences. You may be granted credits or exemptions for some units in this course.
